The trip features Nikko, the Oze upland marshes, Minakami Onsen, and Matsumoto, before returning to Tokyo. Superb accommodation en route.
Meet in Tokyo and travel by train to Nikko. We’ll visit the Toshogu Shrine before heading for the trailhead at the start of the hike from Ryuzu Falls across Senjogahara upland marshes to Yumoto Onsen.
After breakfast we’ll travel by road around to Oze, also in the Nikko National Park. From the trailhead we being our hike, with an overnight stop, around Japan’s largest marsh. Walkways are in place to help protect the flora.

We continue the Oze hike through wetlands and over passes. From the end of the trail we’ll travel by road to Minakami Onsen and our comfortable ryokan on an onsen natural hot spring.

Overnight at ryokan.
We’ll travel on to Matsumoto this morning. In the afternoon we’ll have a guided tour of Matsumoto Castle before heading to our luxurious lodging in the hills.
